What: "Switch the Stat" is coming to Nanaimo! Join the fight again harmful mercury pollution by safely disposing old mercury-containing thermostats in collection receptacles at your local Canadian Tire, and receive 20-50% off new programmable, safer models.
When: October 8th to 15th inclusive
Where: Canadian Tire, 6900 North Island Highway, Nanaimo
Why: Many old thermostats contain up to 10 grams of harmful mercury, and need to be recycled properly. In fact, one gram of mercury can contaminate an eight-hectare lake to the point where the fish in that lake are inedible for a year. Increase your energy savings and do the right thing for your family and the environment.
