Suddenly Dance Theatre�s 17th ROMP! FESTIVAL July 4 & 5, 2014 continues to deliver dance to the people. All three programs in this year�s Festival celebrate the elements of chance, risk, and possibility in the making of dance:


The Festival opens with RISK hosted by Lynda Raino, a non-curated urban cabaret in which dance artists of all styles are invited to show up with their works ready to perform. Selected artists (drawn randomly by hat) will receive $100 on the spot!


In our annual dancer/writer series PRESENT/TENSE 9, each dancer is only given the first and last line of the written work before stepping onto the stage � to create an electric collaborative laboratory between improvised dance and the spoken word.


ART OF WAR is an original Suddenly Dance Theatre work-in-progress featuring dancers Jung ah Chung, David Ferguson, Eric Hall, and Michael Kong. The choreography incorporates balloons, a sharp knife and harmonicas tethered in the mouths of the dancers to increase a sense of suspense, peril, and illusion. With sound and design by Miles Lowry.
