Strata Seminar: Managing Major Construction Projects

VISOA (The Vancouver Island Strata Owners Association) presents several seminars each year to inform and educate owners of condos, townhouses or bare land stratas.

At this seminar, Sat Harwood of Lesperance Mendes Lawyers will speak about "Managing Major Construction Projects and Deficiency Claims for Stratas”. Even if your condo or townhouse complex does regular repairs and maintenance, there are times when larger projects are necessary. Do you, your neighbours and your strata council have what it takes to manage a large project? What do you need to know to prevent nightmares with contracts, insurance and warranties? What poor decisions could land you in court?

Whether you are in a new development with a building warranty or an older strata with repairs on the horizon, this seminar is a must. This seminar will address such topics as:

• the nuts and bolts of major construction projects

• the duty to repair and maintain

• depreciation and warranty reports

• construction defects

• warranty claims

• best practices to avoid legal battles
