I am pleased to announce that Kenn Feigelman, Director of Operations for Deep/Quest 2 Expeditions and Canadian scientific consulting partner on SeaBase 1, will be visiting the Victoria area and presenting on some exciting new developments in the world of underwater exploration.

In 1973, Kenn founded the internationally-acclaimed, Canadian-led, underwater research, exploration and film production organization, Deep/Quest 2 Expeditions. Operating out of its current headquarters in Kingston, Ontario, Deep/Quest 2 has led numerous underwater projects including launching Canadas first-ever submerged research habitat, Sublimnos, in the depths of Lake Ontario, exploring and documenting sub-aquatic caves of the Moira River near Belleville, Ontario, discovering and filming long-lost shipwrecks in the mysterious Marysburgh Vortex off Prince Edward County, and monitoring and reporting on the great whales (Belugas, Blue, Humpback, Finback, and Minke) of the St. Lawerance off Quebecs Mingan Archipelago. Internationally, the organization has been involved in the initiation of coral reef studies off the coast of Barbados, and capturing high-definition video footage of the sea turtles of the Yucatan Peninsula, Mexico. Kenns wreck diving and aquatic wildlife filming in Cuba has earned him the title old man in the sea.

Kenn has been chosen as the first, and only, Canadian member of the management team developing SeaBase 1, a fixed, ocean floor liveaboard habitat aimed at fostering education, research and ecotourism opportunities that highlight the sustainability, stewardship, and conservation of marine ecosystems. The extraordinary total immersion experience of SeaBase 1 creates the environment for a science-based in situ center for gaining knowledge and understanding of coral reef flora and fauna. The non-profit facility will be submerged among the nearly pristine, yet highly sensitive, coral reef ecosystems off the coast of Amergris Caye, Belize.

Come out and get a sneak-peak into one of the worlds most unique and revolutionary underwater projects!
