We are very excited to announce the Special Olympics BC - Nanaimo Beer and Burger Fundraiser with Silent Auction! All proceeds from the silent auction, as well as a generous portion of each ticket sale, support the 150 Special Olympics athletes from the Nanaimo area.

What is Special Olympics BC - Nanaimo, you may ask? We are a charitable non-profit organization dedicated to providing individuals with an intellectual disability the opportunity to participate in sports and physical activity throughout their life. For 30 years, Nanaimo has entrusted us to deliver these opportunities. We now have 150 athletes and 88 volunteers – and these numbers continue to grow. Whether it’s for recreation or competition, athletes have opportunities to enhance their lives and celebrate personal achievement through positive sport experiences.

Athletes can participate in a variety of 17 different sports programs held throughout the year. Here, athletes learn new skills, train for Special Olympics competitions, and cultivate confidence and friendships. We believe these opportunities are essential across the lifespan. That’s why we have programs designed for athletes aged 2 and up! Athletes do everything from skiing and floor hockey in winter, track & field and softball in summer, to bowling and swimming throughout most of the year. This variety ensures that every athlete has the opportunity to participate in a sport they love. We rely on community support from events – like this one – to provide these wonderful sport opportunities at little or no cost to the athletes. So, let’s get on to the event… Our Beer and Burger with Silent Auction will be held at White Spot Nanaimo North (inside the Woodgrove parking lot).

With the $20 adult ticket, you get a burger, fries, coleslaw, and your choice of a pint of lager or pale ale. The $12 child ticket (under 10 years of age) gets you a child-sized burger, fries, and an ice cream float. It’s White Spot, so you know all the food is going to be delicious. Your ticket purchase accommodates vegetarian, gluten free, and non-alcoholic options.

Along with this delicious dinner, you can also take part in our silent auction. Prizes include a luxurious stay at Tigh-Na-Mara Seaside Spa Resort, ocean kayak rentals to explore the waters from Alberni Outpost, a tantalizing baked goods basket from Cobs Bread, clothing items from Icebreaker, admissions to thrilling performances from Chemainus Theatre and Qualicum Beach School of Dance, adventure goods from MEC, tickets to a BC Lions game, and so many more.
