Humour, mystery, poetry, history, novels and short stories will all be part of the celebration at the Sidney &; Peninsula Literary Festival September 22 to 24 at the Mary Winspear Centre. Fourteen renowned Canadian authors will engage book lovers through readings from their works, evening panel discussions, creative writing workshops, and book signings.
Amongst the award-winning authors are Guy Vanderhaege (The Englishman’s Boy), Pauline Holdstock (The Hunter and the Wild Girl), Gary Barwin, winner of the 2017 Stephen Leacock medal for Humour (Yiddish for Pirates) and Yasuko Thanh (Mysterious Fragrance of the Yellow Mountains). Two half-day writing workshops will be led by authors Robert Wiersema and Charlotte Gill respectively. There will be opportunities throughout the Festival to ask questions of the authors and learn more about their upcoming books.
“Expect to be entertained, inspired and surprised – and to come away from the festival reflecting deeply on what you’ve experienced,” says Janet Daines, president of the organizing society.
