Sidney Concert Band Virtual Remembrance Day Concert

The Sidney Concert Band has created its first ever virtual concert this year, as a musical tribute to our Veterans, just in time for Remembrance Day. Conductor Bruce Ham has teamed up with the band's musicians as well as videographer Beth Doman to capture this year's musical tribute.

Our video will be launched on the morning of Wednesday, November 11th (Remembrance Day) on our website www.sidneyconcertband.ca. Please help us spread the word! The video will continue to be available on our website for the foreseeable future.

Attached is an image of our lead trumpet player, Mr Wayne Speller. Wayne performs The Last Post on the video, something he has done brilliantly on behalf of the SCB for many years.

Despite the ongoing restrictions to social gatherings due to the Covid virus, over the last several months SCB band members have found various ways to share music and camaraderie while being careful to social distance. These musicians have gathered in backyards and on patios or inside garages, in small instrument groupings. This resulted in the creation of several smaller SCB ensembles (rather than the full contingent of 50 band members playing together at one time). The Sidney Concert Band has always prepared a live musical tribute to honour our veterans over at least the past decade, but this year marks the first time a strictly internet concert video has been produced!
