The Sidney Classical Orchestra's guest soloist will be Robert Holliston. Robert will perform two very special works, Mozart's last piano concerto (glorious, with melodies to sweep you off your feet) especially arranged by us for string orchestra, and Finzi's Ecolgue, the highly attractive slow movement from an unfinished piano concerto. Also on the program is a Haydn overture to a forgotten opera (he wrote 13), Mendelssohn's String Symphony No. 10 (he wrote 12 and all by the time he was 14), and Stephen Brown's On the idle Hill of Summer for violin solo, viola solo, and string orchestra. An ethereal lyrical evening with musical drama.
