Shelly has made her home on the island for almost seven years and during that time, has performed at several venues here on the island including festivals like Saanich Fair, VIEX, Special Woodstock, Duncan Summer Festival and Sunfest this past summer. She has made many musical friends and has gained many fans which she is very grateful for. Shellys husband has accepted employment in Alberta therefore Shelly and her family will be leaving the Cowichan Valley this spring. Its also a good career move for me. Ill be in the depths of country music on the prairies and Ill be geographically well placed for touring.
I will certainly miss everyone here, Dubois says. And I want to say goodbye to as many people as I can, in person to thank them for their friendship and for supporting my music. Shelly has set up four shows and has called it her South Island Farewell Tour. First show is this Friday, February 3rd at the Shipyard Pub in Maple Bay. Saturday, February 25th at the Duncan Garage Showroom, Sunday, March 4th at the Loghouse Pub in Langford and the final show will be at the Crofton Pub on Friday, March 9th. You can visit Shellys website for details at www.shelly-dubois.com. These will all be acoustic shows and joining Shelly will be her bass player, Maurice Gaudreault and lead guitar player Mark Wing.
Shelly will also be going into the recording studio in Saskatoon this Sunday, February 5th to record a single with producer Bart McKay who has won the Canadian Country Music Associations Recording Studio of the Year two years in a row. The single will be released to country radio in early spring. You can follow Shellys career on her social media sites and the links are provided on her website.
