Join Dr. Melissa Frey as she discusses the history of alien species in BCs coastal waters. Learn about recent invaders and watch-list species, ongoing monitoring efforts, and how you can become a citizen scientist.
Dr. Melissa Frey received a Ph.D. at the University of California Davis, studying molecular systematics and biogeography of tropical marine snails. Her attention is now focused on the rich fauna of the Northeast Pacific, while maintaining an active interest in molluscs. In collaboration with researchers from Fisheries and Oceans Canada and the Smithsonian Institution, shes been involved in several projects aimed at characterizing the diversity, history, and present-day distributions of native and non-native species in British Columbia.
