Sierra Quadra is proud to present an exciting fall season of speakers and films. Our theme this year is Inspiring Activism: stories of people who take a stance in challenging times.
The third and last event in the series is the screening of Bidder 70, a film about student environmentalist Tim DeChristopher who posed as a bidder to monkey-wrench George Bush's fraudulent Bureau of Land Management Oil and Gas Lease Auction. Bidding $1.7 million for 22,000 acres of pristine Utah wilderness around Arches and Canyonlands National Parks – with no intention to either pay or drill – Tim’s daring move brought the auction to an abrupt halt. Federally indicted and served with stiff fines, he nonetheless continued his fight and emerged as a climate justice leader.
