Chemainus Classical Concerts presents: Schubert's "The Lovely Maid of the Mill" (Die Schone Mullerin) performed by husband and wife duo Grant Mellemstrand, tenor, and Naomi Barclay, piano. Schubert's famous song cycle tells a story of unrequited love, moving from cheerful optimism to despair and tragedy, and ending with a lullaby sung by the brook. This pinnacle of Lied runs the gamut of emotional, melodic and harmonic splendour.
