Save our Steinway! The Victoria Conservatory of Music's Steinway Grand Piano Revitalization Fundraising Concert
add to outlook add to google calendar remind me
The Victoria Conservatory of Music’s 1965 Steinway Grand was brought to Victoria by Robin Wood, having been purchased in Germany the same year and transported via the Panama Canal. It has served the VCM’s many generations of students and faculty, and well-known visiting artists including Anton Kuerti, Laura O’Gorman, Jocelyn Abbott, Jane Coop, Martin Isepp, Jon Kimura Parker, Martin Stadtfeld, Janina Fialkowska, and Angela Cheng, who chose this piano to use for her performances of all of the Beethoven piano concertos with the Victoria Symphony in the Royal Theatre in 2016.
One of our most treasured instruments, the Steinway has been with us from the very beginning. However, after 54 years of service it is now in need of critical refurbishment to keep it at the level required for concert performance. Please join us for a benefit concert to help raise funds for the first phase of urgent repairs to our beloved Steinway!
This is a unique opportunity to hear the story of the VCM Steinway and a wonderful afternoon of music hosted by Robert Holliston, Head of Keyboard at the VCM, with performances by our amazing Keyboard faculty.
