San Felix
San Felix is Ian Kopp, Brett Frankson, Mark Bell, and Nick Tassell. They are an enthusiastic group of young men writing music together in a garage in Saanich, BC. The garage is lined with egg cartons, and some of them are going moldy because the egg wasn't cleaned off. San Felix sounds like that time when you ordered a water and the waiter put mint leaves in it, and you thought "I was not expecting these mint leaves but I still enjoy them". They toured BC and Ontario in 2014, have their second EP coming out in April of 2015, and fund their efforts with bottle drives. Have you got any bottles? Let them know! http://www.sanfelixband.com
The Wild Romatics
Evan Miller and Aleisha Kalina walked the same small-town high school halls long before they ever started making music together. Although they missed each other on the graduation stage by four years, fate couldn’t keep “The Wild Romantics” apart. A chance meeting during solo performances sparked an undeniable chemistry and it wasn’t long before the two began sharing songs together, something they had never done with anyone else. Their voices harmonize just as well as they do and tell a story of two young lovers finding comfort and solace from the cold in each other and in the gift of creating music. “It’s true, I’d rather be scared with you…” they whisper in ‘Your Bright Eyes Keep Me Awake’ from their debut EP. A more fitting lyric for this duo can’t be found.
Armed with just two voices, guitar and sparse percussion, their music has drawn comparisons to the haunting, intimate folk of The Civil Wars to energetic, foot stomping, southern driven rock n’ roll in the spirit of Shovels and Rope and Johnny Cash. The Wild Romantics put immense value on being able to share their stories of love, life, loss and learning by taking their own experiences and creating stories that audiences relate to personally and can take home with them.
Although the band only formed in 2013, they have already stunned audiences into silence with their vulnerable and passionate performances. This year alone they’ve shared the stage with bands like Wake Owl, Head of the Herd, Daniel Wesley and Close Talker. With the release of their full-bodied, Cory Woodward produced EP, 2014 looks to be the year The Wild Romantics make their mark. This time, though, they’ll be graduating together. http://thewildromantics.bandcamp.com
