Samsara: A Dance Journey
add to outlook add to google calendar remind me
This production, choreographed by internationally acclaimed dancer, Nath Keo, celebrates the Buddhist cycle of life. The word Samsara means continuous flow, and the choreography explores the cycle of birth, love, sickness, suffering, death and re-birth as understood within the Buddhist philosophy.
Nath Keo, best known as a powerhouse belly dance performer, was ordained as a Buddhist monk in his native Cambodia in 2006 and spent the year studying Buddhism and living the monastic life. This time of his life inspired what he describes as his most personal work to date.
Sacred Centre Dance has been in rehearsal for this show for over a year, working in a unique fusion of belly dance, Cambodian classical and folk dance, Cambodian martial arts, and meditation mudras. This is the companys fifth major production. Their previous shows were A Tribute to Nadia Gamal, (2007) Shaabi Shake 2000 (2008), Emerald Oasis (2010) and Raqstar (2012).
