The Saltwater School is currently taking registrations for this fall. Find out more about our Waldorf curriculum at the Saltwater School Open House. If you have not yet visited us, the Saltwater School is located at 2311 Rosewall Crescent, Courtenay in the artistic neighborhood of Tin Town.
Families can tour the school and meet our talented teachers. Our teachers will also be more than happy to answer any questions you have. There will be opportunities to view student�s work and get a feel for a �day in the life� of our students. In the spirit of spring, families can also make a spring flower basket to take home.
The Saltwater School offers a unique Waldorf curriculum which follows the required BC Ministry of Education Learning Outcomes. Our Grades Lead Teachers all hold a BC Teacher�s Certificate and have Waldorf certification. Families who are interested in learning more about our small class sizes and our daily rhythm are encouraged to attend. In addition to the normal school curriculum, grades programming includes Outdoor Pursuits, Woodworking, Handwork, and Gardening. Teachers daily enrich their classroom studies using four acres of green space near the school.
This fall, we will offer Parent and Child (babies to 3 years old), Preschool and Kindergarten to Grade 6 programming. To accommodate our growing school population, we will be moving our grade classes to our newly added facility in Tin Town this fall.
Saltwater School is an independent school which began offering curriculum inspired by Waldorf education principles in the Comox Valley in September 2011. We are currently awaiting �Developing School Status� with the Association of Waldorf Schools of North America (AWSNA) and we are certified with the Waldorf Early Child Association of North America (WECAN).
