Edward Snowden has revealed that the U.S. National Security Agency routinely accesses e-mails, Skype and telephone calls around the world.
What kind of footprint do people leave behind when using information technology? To what extent do governments and companies have access to messages, chats, and phone conversations? What privacy rights do we have?
The Salt Spring Forum is excited that the worlds leading expert on these matters will be joining us for a timely discussion about cyberspace, security, and human rights.
Ron Deibert directs both the Centre for Global Security Studies and the Citizen Lab at the University of Toronto. His latest book is Black Code: Inside the Battle for Cyberspace (McClelland & Stewart, 2013). Professor Deibert has also co-authored ground-breaking reports such as Tracking Ghostnet, which documented a cyber-espionage network spanning 103 countries.
Please join us for a conversation that will change the way you view technology, on Friday, November 1 at 7:30 p.m. at ArtSpring. Tickets are available at www.tickets.artspring.ca , at 537-2102, or at Salt Spring Books. $20 General Admission; $15 Forum Members.
