The 17th Salt Spring Film Festival kicks off at GISS with our Opening Night Gala presentation on Friday March 4, Landfill Harmonic (sponsored by Purica).
Doors open at 6:00pm, and the film starts at 7:30pm. Tickets are $10 at the door, or included with the purchase of a weekend pass (see Box Office for more information).
A special dinner and desserts menu will also be available from 6:00pm.

The full Festival program gets under way on Saturday morning, with screenings starting at 10:00am. Check out our 2016 Films page for full details of our schedule. You can also pick up a copy of our Festival Guide from Salt Spring Books, the Library, Salt Spring Mercantile, and at lots of locations across the island.

We're honoured to be joined by the following filmmakers, who'll be introducing their films and taking part in Q&A sessions afterwards:

John Bolton, director, Debris
Chris Hsiung, director, Elder In The Making
Daniel J. Pierce, director, For Our Daughters
Selwyn Jacob, producer, Ninth Floor
Sarah Robertson, director, Sea Blind
Jennifer Abbott, co-writer & editor, Sea Blind
Ali Harris, director, Xwaaqw'um

Thank you to Stonehouse B&B for sponsoring the Filmmaker Series, and to Hastings House for hosting the filmmakers' reception.

Join us in the Festival Hub to relax, plan your viewing and share film reviews. The Hub is also where you'll find the Salt Spring Community Bazaar - local organizations, often reflecting issue raised in the films, who gather to educate the audience of their activities in the social fabric of Salt Spring Island.

And as if the movies weren't enough, we have an exciting weekend of delicious local food provided by Coco Loco and Laughing Daughters, and the GISS Cafeteria program. Sweet and savoury treats will be available at the Intermission Cafe from 9:00am onward, and hot lunches and fresh salads will be served in the GISS cafeteria from 11:30 to 1:30pm. Coffee will again be provided by Ometepe, please bring your own mug!

Have a great weekend!
