Biographical Info
I would describe myself as a veteran of the rural bar, lounge and coffee house circuit in the Western Canadian provinces, the Yukon, and Alaska. I have performed as a solo artist and traveled extensively throughout this area on and off since the mid 1970's.
Originally from the small central Alberta town of Bowden, I now live on Haida Gwaii, off the North Coast of BC. I began by playing snare drum in the local bagpipe marching band. This quite naturally led to playing drums in Rock & Roll bands and touring in Canada and the U.S. In 1974 I bought my Martin D18 acoustic guitar, and my musical direction changed...
Although songwriting has long been a mainstay of my musical creativity, it was not until my 1999 musical mindmeld with Dennis LaRochelle that I began playing almost exclusively original material. I have found that writing songs about my own life experience has led to a greater self-understanding as an artist, and to performances delivered with passion, depth, and heartfelt emotion. I accompany my lyrics and vocal melody with my acoustic guitar and rack-mounted harmonicas.
