Top musical talent from Vancouver Island, including International recording artists will join forces this Friday to help raise funds for Islanders who are most in need during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Friday April 17, 8 pm, grab a front row seat in your living room to see these talented artists perform from their homes -- and help our neighbours at the same time.

Rock for Relief will feature performances by David Foster and Katharine McPhee, Randy and Tal Bachman, the Tenors, Trevor Guthrie, and current American Idol contestant Lauren Spencer-Smith from Nanaimo, as well as local favourites Jesse Roper, Carmanah, Aaron Pritchett, Kathryn Calder and many others. Plus, there will be special appearances by Steve Nash, Silken Laumann, Rick Hansen, Jim Treliving and other notables. The program will be hosted by CHEK personalities Stacy Ross and Joe Perkins with help from their CHEK Upside colleagues Jeff King and Ed Bain.

Rock for Relief: A Living Room Concert for Vancouver Island will be broadcast and livestreamed without commercial interruption on CHEK (Shaw ch. 6, Bluesky ch. 109/ Telus Optik ch. 121) as well as the CHEK News Facebook page and YouTube channel.

This Island-wide fundraising effort is a joint initiative between CHEK, the Victoria Foundation and the Nanaimo Foundation, with donors able to direct their funds to either the Rapid Relief Fund, supporting Greater Victoria and the Cowichan Valley (www.rapidrelieffund.ca), or the Community Response Fund, supporting communities north of the Cowichan Valley (www.islandresponsefund.ca).

“The effects of this pandemic are unprecedented. CHEK can play an important role at this time, bringing together Islanders who are feeling isolated with some of the Island’s most celebrated performers who are all giving of their time for a vital cause,” said Levi Sampson, Board Chair of CHEK Media Group.

About the Rapid Relief Fund – created by the Victoria Foundation, Jawl Foundation, the Times Colonist, and supported by CHEK to help people in need as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic. Every dollar received from your donations goes to local charities in Greater Victoria and the Cowichan Valley.

About the Community Response Fund – created by The Nanaimo Foundation and the Tom Harris Community Foundation to provide relief to urgent community needs due to Covid-19. Donors may choose to direct their contribution to a specific community on Vancouver Island.
