Restoration of the Last Clipper Ship
Whilst there will never be a restoration project in Cowichan Bay on the scale of that of the Cutty Sark in Greenwich, it is inconceivable that anyone with an interest in boat building, and the sea, would not marvel at the restoration of the one and only surviving clipper ship, Cutty Sark. On 27 June 2013 at 7:00 pm, at the Maritime Centre in Cowichan Bay, there will be a presentation of a DVD showing the history and restoration of this magnificent vessel. It is being restored not only as a historical artifact but also as a tribute to the Merchant Navy, especially those who served in World War II. The DVD will be introduced by Charles Rowley, and it is hoped the showing will inspire a discussion of the age of sail, and the preservation of historical icons.
