Come and join us for a fun filled day of all things railway! There will be music, food, model railways, displays, swap and shop and fun, fun, fun. Admission by donation.
All aboard! The Parksville Museum is the destination for family-friendly fun. You can visit the train “station” with admission by donation. The event features model railway displays, demonstrations, swap and shop railway related merchandise, memorabilia, food trucks, music and more.
“It’s also the first chance for the community to check out the newest addition to our exhibits. One of our heritage cabins now showcases a terrific display about the E&N Railway”said Susan Wismer, Museum President.
Wismer added that many area residents may be surprised to learn that the E&N (Esquimalt and Nanaimo) Railway, a passenger and freight train that travelled from Victoria to Courtenay, was linked to the agreement that made BC a province of Canada in 1871. Railway access on Vancouver Island was a requirement for joining confederation.
“We’re pretty excited about Railway Day at the Parksville Museum,” said Chris Bruckshaw, model railroader. “Railway enthusiasts are a friendly bunch who enjoy sharing our passion with the public – especially kids.”
