With five nominations at the recent Canadian Folk Music Awards, for New Emerging Artist of the Year, Young Performer of the Year, Ensemble of the Year, Instrumental Album of the Year and World Group of the Year, Quinn Bachand and his ensemble Brishen have certainly taken the gypsy jazz music world by storm!
Eighteen year old Quinn is one of Canada's most outstanding award winning musicians, with diverse musical talents and a bottomless pool of creativity. An experienced performer, a prodigious guitar player, and gifted multi-instrumentalist, he is at ease playing a wide range of instruments and styles.
In 2013 Quinn formed the critically acclaimed ensemble Brishen (which means bringer of the storm), featuring Richard Moody on violin and viola, Reuben Wier on rhythm guitar and vocals and Joey Smith on upright bass.
Joining Brishen will be the amazing Maureen Washington, winner of the 2014 Black Canadian Award for Best Soul and Jazz Music.
