Nanaimo, BC’s author Carol Matthews will sign her new expanded and revised popular book Questions for Ariadne: The Labyrinth and the End of Times during her upcoming book launch at Nanaimo’s Bethlehem Centre at 2371 Arbot Rd. on December 9, 2018, from 2:00-4:00 pm. The book signing will include a discussion about labyrinths and the unique role that they play for seekers of calming, centering inner-reflection and peaceful meditation.
Questions for Ariadne: The Labyrinth and the End of Times initially sold out quickly in 2011, and the publisher Oolichan Books has made the book newly available for sale once again; a true delight for labyrinth enthusiasts. The book features a new foreword and afterword that includes an engaging conversation with international labyrinth facilitator Kimberly Lowelle Saward, P.H.D. The new edition adds a chapter that explores the mystery of impermanence and temporary labyrinths.
This is an opportunity for the community to meet Carol Matthews, memoir author of The First Three Years of a Grandmother’s Life, Reflections on the C-Word, Incidental Music and Minerva’s Owl: The Bereavement Phase of my Marriage.
Matthews offers her new book as a tool for reflection, the perfect holiday gift for people of all beliefs and denominations and an excellent idea for the “difficult-to-purchase-for” people on your shopping list.
Located in the tranquil lakeside woodlands setting on Mt. Benson, Nanaimo’s Bethlehem Centre constructed one of the first outdoor labyrinths in 1998 on Vancouver Island and houses the only public finger labyrinth museum in the world; The Godden Finger Labyrinth Collection. The finger labyrinth offers the indoor experience of the labyrinth traced by fingers, allowing the participant to feel calm and centered and reflective in thought. In addition to the finger labyrinth museum, while visiting don’t forget to experience the serene quiet at Bethlehem’s outdoor labyrinth during your visit, it’s always open.
