Candlelight Tribute Ceremony at Qualicum Beach Legion Cenotaph, 180 Veterans Way
The Candlelight Tribute Service was started in 1995 in the Netherlands when Dutch children laid lighted candles on the graves of Canadian soldiers, leaving them burning overnight in silent tribute to the fallen. Since that time, these tributes have increased in Europe and here in Canada. The candles that we use are made in the Netherlands specifically for this purpose.
The subtle glow of these candles, especially when placed in numbers, creates a solemn and unforgettable image for the evening of Remembrance.
Members of the public are welcome to purchase candles & lay them during the ceremony. Order forms are available at Branch 76, Qualicum Beach from Fri., Oct. 25th to Fri., Nov. 8th.
Candles are $3.50 each. If you aren’t able to attend the Tribute ceremony to lay your candle at the cenotaph, you can request the Legion to do it on your behalf.
