PYSANKY WORKSHOP – Saturday, April 13, 2019
Are you interested in learning the ancient art of making pysanky - Ukrainian Easter Eggs?
The Ukrainian Cultural Society of Nanaimo is sponsoring a workshop on Saturday, April 13 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at St. Michael’s Parish Hall – 4017 Victoria Avenue (off Norwell Drive).
Fees: $25 per person
All supplies are included (eggs, dyes, writing tools, wax, patterns), but please bring your own lunch/snacks.
The pysanky process involves planning, patience, and working with candles and hot wax. Therefore, the minimum recommended age for participants is 10, unless accompanied by an adult. The workshop fee does not apply to a parent attending for the purpose of assisting their children – unless they chose to decorate their own eggs.
Pre-registration only, as class size and supplies are limited. If you have any questions, or would like to register for the workshop, please contact JEANNE RUDY at [email protected], or 250-758-1561 (evenings).
Ukrainian legend has it that as long as pysanky are being decorated, goodness will prevail over evil throughout the world.
