Pussy Riot: A Punk Prayer won the 2013 British Independent Film Award for Best Documentary and Special Jury Prize at Sundance Film Festival for World Cinema - Documentary 2013.
Three women from the Punk Rock Group Pussy Riot were arrested, tried and imprisoned in Russia for a 'blasphemous' performance in a Moscow cathedral. The trial drew international media attention to the issue of free speech in Russia and focused a spot light on the diminishing rights and freedoms under Putin's regime.
In an online forum about the film, one commenter said these young women have the courage to fight for the right to free speech, and are willing to go to jail for it. "Righteous balls indeed."
A membership to the Victoria Film Festival is required to view this film.
