“Protect The Coast”, an exhibit of oil paintings by local artist, Dyane Brown, will be at Nanaimo Art Council gallery, 78 Wharf Street, Nanaimo from October 2nd to November 2nd. Opening night is Thursday October 4th from 7-9 pm with the artist present and light refreshments available.
Brown’s series of paintings celebrate her favorite coastal haunts and the sea creatures who surprise, delight, and sustain us.
“All this is threatened by the proposed Kinder Morgan Trans Mountain pipeline expansion.” says Brown. “My show is a celebration of our coastal waters and a tribute to the people who are acting to protect it. It is also a call to action. Sixty percent of any sales of paintings or cards will be donated to the Coast Protectors to help with the legal costs of those acting to stop this pipeline”.
Coast Protectors is a project of the Union of BC Indian Chiefs, (UBCIC). www.coastprotectors.ca
