The First Unitarian Fellowship of Nanaimo is proud to welcome new minister ordained minister Debra Thorne as it approaches its 60th year in service of the Mid-Island Community. Rev. Thorne has relocated to Nanaimo to share her passions and unique brand of Unitarianism after seven years’ experience as minister at Beacon Unitarian Church in New Westminster.
The Nanaimo Fellowship, which has been operating a shelter for homeless people on Townsite Road for ten years, is a doctrine-free, liberal congregation celebrating open hearts and minds. Unitarianism draws on many spiritual and secular sources believing in the inherent goodness of people and encourages members to seek out their own system of beliefs.
The community is invited to attend Thorne’s first service, on September 15, and join us in welcoming the newest voice in Nanaimo’s spiritual community.
Services are held at the church building located at 595 Townsite Rd. Sundays at 11 a.m. Our website is UFON.ca.
