Join us for the first lecture of 2019 at Ross Bay Villa Historic House Museum on January 17th at 7:30.
This illustrated lecture is with Dr John Lutz, Professor and Chair of the History Department at the University of Victoria. Dr. Lutz studies the history of relations between Indigenous and Settler populations. The southern tip of Vancouver Island is the traditional home of the Coast Salish People. Like most of their countrymen, first residents of Ross Bay Villa, Frances and Anna Letitia Roscoe brought their very English way of life to Victoria and were likely unaware and perhaps unconcerned about how vital the land and surrounding sea were to the spirit, culture and livelihood of the native people who have occupied this region for millennia.
