Each day of the Victoria Film Festival enjoy our screenings of the films submitted to the Festival by local youth through our FilmCAN program!
Every year, the Victoria Film Festival receives a number of student short film as part of our annual FilmCAN online competition. Open to youth from 7-17 from across Vancouver Island, FilmCAN encourages youth to explore film as an artistic, creative medium of expression.
Every year, a Junior and Senior winner is chosen. In 2013, the Festival decided to screen all our entries throughout the 10 days as part of our Victoria Vision program. This gave each of our submitters the opportunity to have their work viewed and appreciated by the public at large. For the 20th Anniversary of the Victoria Film Festival, we are continuing this program at The Bay. We invite everyone to come see the works of youth on Vancouver Island from Feb. 7-16th, 2014.
If you have a child who loves film, encourage them submit to the 2015 FilmCAN. Not only do they use their imagination and creative skills, they get the chance to win some awesome prizes. (The 2014 winner got a brand new iMac.)
Be sure to stop by and explore the creativity of our up and coming film makers from February 7th to 16th, 2014 at 636 Fort Street (exterior of The Bay Centre), next to Crabtree & Evelyn.
