Not your typical novel, Spenser: On The River Of Time examines the the last four turbulent months in the life of the great poet, Edmund Spenser. Fleeing the great Munster revolt and fighting to survive the invasion of his home at a terrible cost to his family, he lives as a refugee in Cork before returning to England to see Queen Elizabeth and her Privy Council.
Riveting and poignant, this historical fiction echoes the political climate and civil strife of a world that is divided and conflicted. Author, Carl Hare explores the paradox between human conflict and moral conduct that takes readers on a poetic odyssey.
On The River Of Time is an epic trilogy that follows the life of three figures - one mythical, one historical and one fictional from different time periods spanning almost three thousand years: Odysseus in ancient Greece, Spenser the poet in Ireland and Archer, a fictional renegade actor/director in present day Canada.
Join author and poet Carl Hare and Artistic Director Daniel Scott of Planet Earth Poetry for this special reading and kick off to the season.
