Pig Roast and Barn Dance

LArche Comox Valley will be throwing a Pig Roast and Barn Dance at the Merville Community Hall. Fiddlejam, the Valleys much-loved fiddling ensemble, will provide the music for dancing. During the meal, John and Joanne van Egmond will sing songs comic and romantic. The meal climaxes with a dessert auction by local cuisine artists.
Its first Pig Roast last year was a huge success, drawing some 200 people to the spacious hall and grounds. People met their friends and neighbours as they lined up to have their pork sliced directly off the pig and then piled their plates with a variety of salads and chilies. Youngsters had a great time racing around the grounds with their buddies. A cash bar kept the warm evening refreshed. The dessert auction was highly competitive and the dancing gave everyone a chance to work off earlier indulgences.
LArche Comox Valley provides residences and educational and creative programs for people with developmental disabilities on the North Island. It is raising funds to build a new Outreach and Creative Arts Centre along with townhouses that provide supported living for individuals with disabilities. The evening is an opportunity for the community to help raise finances for this project while having a wonderful time.
Tickets can be picked up Laughing Oyster in Courtenay, Blue Heron in Comox, the Merville General Store and Courtenay Country Market both on Highway 19A, and at the LArche Outreach Centre at 1744 England (250-334-8320).
