Piano Recital "My Life with Piano"

Born in Tokyo Japan, Sayuri Kubota began taking piano lessons at the age of four. She once dreamed to be a professional pianist but became a mathematics teacher. After she moved to Canada, she did not play piano for over ten years. She realized that something important was missing in her life and resumed taking lessons with Ms. Teresa Marusarz-Borek. Sayuri performs regularly in Nanaimo area. In recent years, she participated in master classes with some acclaimed concert pianists including Angela Hewitt and Ian Parker. She has also participated in the Rocky Mountain Amateur Piano Competition (Colorado Springs) in 2009, CBC’s Piano Hero contest in 2015, and Washington International Piano Artists Competition this year.
In this recital, she will perform memorable pieces from her childhood as well as pieces she recently added to her repertoire to share her journey with piano with the audience.
