Pianist Sayuri Kubota in Ninth Year of Fundraising Concerts for the Nanaimo Conservatory of Music

SAYURI KUBOTA, an advanced student of the Nanaimo Conservatory of Music's piano teacher Teresa Borek, will play her annual PIANO RECITAL on SUNDAY, OCTOBER 16, at 2:30 PM at the Nanaimo Conservatory of Music at 375 Selby Street. (Sayuri will also perform October 15th in Parksville and October 23rd in Victoria). This year Sayuri will perform works by the prominent Polish composers: Oginski, Krogulski, Moszkowski, Szymanowski, Paderewski, and of course Chopin. This concert is by donation, and, as in the past eight years, Sayuri will once again generously donate all the proceeds to the Nanaimo Conservatory of Music's Piano Fund.

Sayuri Kubota began taking piano lessons in Japan at the age of four.  She wanted to be a professional pianist, but became a mathematics teacher instead. She kept playing the piano as her hobby until she moved to Canada in 1992.  Despite her busy life as a high school teacher and mother of a little child, she felt she was missing something important and resumed taking lessons with Ms. Teresa Marusarz-Borek about ten years ago. 

The Nanaimo Conservatory of Music is generously supported by many donors within our island community and offers private and group music lessons, including ensembles, orchestras, and choirs. All ages and levels are welcome, from babies to seniors. Fundraising concerts like this provide much needed financial support  to our organization.
