This hands-on workshop will include discussions, production work, field trips, one-to-one meetings, informal critiques and class discussion. Culminating in a 10-day exhibition in the Slide Room Gallery, this workshop is for those seeking time to start a thematic project or for those interested in creating more time to further develop a series-in-progress.
The workshop will review shooting methods, affordable presentation options, editing, and post-production workflow. The workshop will run July 10-13 (Monday-Thursday, 10-5pm) with classroom discussions and demos in the mornings and with production work and field trips in the afternoons. The course will end with one final session on Wednesday, July 19 (10am-5pm) to present finished work and to prepare for the exhibition (Thursday, July 20 - Monday, July 24).
Students have optional access to VISA's B&W darkroom and may choose to work with film or digital photography. Participants need to have a digital or film SLR camera and a laptop with photo-editing software on it. (Participants can download a weeklong free trial of Photoshop prior to start of workshop.)
