Photographic and Text Transfer Workshop

Phototransfer is an easy and fun process that, with a moderate degree of care, can yield rewarding results for the beginner. It’s also an excellent platform for storytelling. Over three sessions, using their own printed photographs and text, participants will learn a basic photo transfer technique for applying their images to a wood surface and explore simple strategies for applying text to their pieces.
Day 1: Introduction
– Tour of the exhibition, Are you sure? with a brief talk about transference, projection and image completion.
– Brief summary of photo transfer process
– Discussion of text treatments
– Discussion of potential printing surfaces
Day 2: Apply images
– Participants bring images, 1-2 lines of text and surface of their choice
– Photocopying of participant images and text
– Application of images to surfaces
Day 3: The reveal
– Removal of paper to reveal image transfers
– Text treatment
– Painting and finishing as necessary
There will be a limited number of 10 spots for this workshop.
