Adhering to the principle that everything old is new again—if you just wait long enough—Peter Brunette and the Lake Hill Band offer up a potpourri of folk and country classics, along with Peter’s originals that sound as if they were written in another century. At folk clubs and coffeehouses up and down Vancouver Island and British Columbia’s Lower Mainland, they sing of joy and folly, vice and virtue, love gained and love lost, nature’s glory and humanity’s quest for redemption. Nothing “alt” or “neo” here, just plain, honest acoustic music that lives up to Harlan Howard’s time-tested formula: three chords and the truth.

The band members met each other in 2013 at a monthly hootenanny held atop Lake Hill in Victoria, British Columbia. They include Peter Brunette on lead vocals and rhythm guitar, Martin Redwood on lead guitar and harmony vocals, and Ken Wodlinger on upright bass and harmony vocals. Peter readily wins audiences over with his wry humor, his infectious enthusiasm for the music, and the homespun charm of his country-inflected vocals. Martin has performed in numerous bands representing a wide range of styles, including folk, country, rockabilly, and rhythm-and-blues. Ken currently plays folk, jazz, and swing music in several Vancouver Island groups, including the Swiftsure Big Band.
Get ready to clap your hands, stamp your feet, and sing along whenever the spirit moves you, which tends to be pretty much all the time when you’re listening to Peter Brunette and the Lake Hill Band!
