Chimera Theatre is bringing mythical physical theatre to the 30th Victoria Fringe Festival with Perseus & Andromeda, a newly created movement show based on a nearly two thousand year old lost Greek play by Euripides.
Perseus is a hero on a mission from the gods. Andromeda is a princess chained to a rock to be sacrificed to a sea monster. How will their story unfold? This myth was staged by Euripides, the ancient Greek playwright, but over the millennia the script has been lost and fragmented.
Chimera Theatre takes the fragments of this story and brings it to life for today’s audiences through movement, music, acrobatics, and dance. Perseus & Andromeda by Euripides, adapted and created by Andrew G. Cooper and Melissa Thomas, runs at the 30th Annual Victoria Fringe Festival.
Tickets will be on available August 2nd, 2016 through Ticket Rocket online (www.ticketrocket.co), in person at Ticket Rocket (#2 – 1609 Blanshard St. Victoria, BC), or by phone at 250-590-6291.
Chimera Theatre’s last touring production, The Untold Tales of the Brothers Grimm by Andrew G. Cooper, was nominated for Best New Play and Best Comedy at the 2015 Victoria Fringe Festival where the show was called “delightfully silly” (Anne McGladdery, The Marble) and “refreshing” (Adrian Chamberlain, The Times Colonist).
