In the fashion industry quality patterns are the first step to making quality garments. Learn to draft professional patterns that conform to current industry standards.
Each student will develop their own sloper (a basic pattern used as a tool to create other patterns) and will then learn how to use the sloper to draft any design possible. The class will include flat pattern techniques as well as a combination of flat and draped patternmaking.
Students will also learn to create a cutters must and a marker request. We will discuss common obstacles in patternmaking such as calculating shrink percentages and grow out. Drafting paper is included in the course fee.
