Passport to Nature: Fruit Thinning Fiesta at Welland Legacy Orchard
add to outlook add to google calendar remind me
Presented by JJ Ford, Orchard Coordinator at Welland Community Orchard.
Fruit thinning is an important and often overlooked step in growing amazing fruit! Apples, pears, plums and some other trees can really load up their branches, and by thinning (i.e. removing a portion) the fruit on the tree we can grow larger, more flavourful and earlier ripening fruit, as well as prevent damage from broken branches! This is a fun and easy morning spent in the orchard, moving from tree to tree and chatting while we work. Save the little green apples and make your own pectin!
Registration is required.
