Painting with acrylic skins

In this two-day workshop you will learn how to make paint skins and incorporate them into your acrylic paintings. Paint skins are made by layering acrylic paints on a non-porous surface and then peeling them off for use in a painting. They can be added to paintings to increase the dimensionality which adds interest and complexity. You will work towards making two paintings over the weekend: one based on a geometric abstract grid and the other on a landscape. In addition, you will learn to use light and dark value contrasts to create a dynamic and vibrant composition. You can bring a few landscape photos for reference or use your imagination to develop your own forms. Some acrylic painting experience recommended.
