Painting the Contemporary Landscape

Structured around a series of assignments, class discussions, and group critiques, this course will help students develop a painting vocabulary that reflects their unique relationship and history within the natural world. In addition to developing a critical approach to landscape painting, this class will introduce students to contemporary painters and artists working to re- imagine the landscape genre, and integrate contemporary painting discourse into the class structure. Some painting experience recommended.
