Painting: The Abstract and the Real
add to outlook add to google calendar remind me
This painting course explores the various relationships between abstracted shapes and representational objects, including the convergence of these two methods of interpreting form. Students begin with subject matter from the world, such as landscape, and develop methods to blend real and abstract imagery, such as that found in geometric abstraction, into a personal and imaginative language of their own.
The goal is on making paintings in which abstraction and the real coexist in a single work. Examples of the work of contemporary painters will be shown for inspiration. Some painting experience recommended.
