Painting Plein Air
add to outlook add to google calendar remind me
Landscape is in perpetual flux as light, season and weather continue to change over time. Plein air painting, or painting outdoors from life, is a sensorial immersion in space where what we see is influenced by changing light, scents and sounds of the space. These physical attributes are also informed by our own physical condition, the quality of our attention and the history of the space. This workshop looks at the historical, philosophical and practical applications of the genre. Of particular focus is looking at plein air painting in a contemporary context and understanding its possible role in today's world. The exercises are intense investigations of space, and training in the skill of looking. Classes will consist of field trips and hands-on painting, as well as technical instruction and individual guidance. Oil and acrylic painters welcome. Some painting experience recommended.
