Painting: Mapping, Geography and Place
add to outlook add to google calendar remind me
This course will use ideas of mapping, geography and a sense of place as a point of departure for developing a painting, or series of paintings. Students will use these ideas on both a literal and an abstract level.
For example, students may map actual places, but also use the language of mapmaking as a source for abstract design in their compositions. Discussions surrounding contemporary artists who explore these themes will be included and students will be challenged to find their own language to create a personal narrative around geography and place. Painting experience recommended.
