"Loose & Lively Urban Landscapes"
Sally will work in the gouache medium during the workshop, and encourage others to do so for the purposes of learning as it dries quickly and layers easily. You will work on sturdy paper such as watercolour paper in fairly small sizes, anywhere from 6 inches to maximum 10 inches. Sally will demo 10 min to start, then give the class one-on-one painting time. Each student is to bring their own urban photos to work from (holiday photos or local).
The fee of $130 per person includes your admission to all four classes in this workshop series over consecutive weeks on the following dates:

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR
Born in Nova Scotia, Sally received an honours diploma in fashion design. She left the rag trade behind when she married her military husband. They moved frequently and raised 3 children. Painting helped her feel grounded, no matter where in the world she found herself living.
For 20 years she painted exclusively in watercolour, pursuing studies with professional watercolourists. While living in Australia she fell in love with the Australian impressionists works. It was here she studied oil painting and art history at Brougham Art School, south of Melbourne.
Sally’s studio practice has developed into a signature soft, energetic voice over the years. Her oil paintings are landscape & botanical themes, and spring from a regular outdoor painting practice. In the studio she works in an intuitive way, asking questions, and listening to the feelings that arise that help direct the way the painting will go.
When travelling, Sally likes the simple uncomplicated medium of gouache usually in a sketchbook or on paper. She enjoys working on urban and rural landscapes with it. It’s easy to layer dark to light (like oils) but dries quick and cleans up with water.
Sally lives in Saanich, where she has a studio at her home in Broadmead.
Her current work is available for sale on her website, www.sallychupick.com.
