Painting: Conversations in Abstraction

This course will begin by introducing students to early abstraction leading into an exploration of contemporary ideas and practices. Technical aspects of the class will focus on skill development and understanding how aesthetic traditions and our visual environment can fuel and inform abstract work. Students will emerge with a clearer picture of what abstraction means for their practice and why it continues to be relevant in today’s art world. Some painting experience recommended.
