Painting: Contemporary European Approaches

Artist Jeroen Witvliet will guide students thought the styles and approaches of several Northern European-based contemporary painters. Some examples of artists covered in the course are Franz Ackermann, Luc Tuymans, Anselm Kiefer, Renee Daniels, Michael Borremans, Elka Oudenampsen, Nour-Eddine Jarram and Neo Rauch. The course will provide insight into paintings being done in Europe today, as well as give an opportunity to try a range of ways to make paintings. Projects will be based on selected artists' concepts and methodology. Previous painting experience required.
