add to outlook add to google calendar remind me
In this course students study the abstract language inspired by the structural framework of architectural form, space and light and the construction/deconstruction of space in painting. Students look at how the built environment influences artists. The visual information of buildings under construction and how buildings fit into the surrounding urban structures and natural forms will be taken into consideration. Students can use acrylic and oil in the course. Mixed media and creating a three-dimensional surface will be covered. The work of abstract painters such as Charline von Heyl, Amy Sillman, Mark Bradford, and Julie Mehretu and the work of architects who are also artists such as Zaha Hadid, Frank Gehry, Steven Holl, Maya Lin, and Louis Kahn and others will be used for inspiration.
